SEG London Conference

Maxwell Porter, one of the placement students from Cardiff University who joined SHG during the first field season in summer 2021, presented work he undertook during his placement to the SEG London 2023 conference.  He reportedly had ‘a great time talking with fellow geologists about the project and the significant collaboration SHG has had with Cardiff University.’  A copy of his summary poster can be seen here.

Fieldwork Update

During the first half of the summer field season SHG has focused on identifying additional regional targets while also following up on an area of interest generated from the results of the 2022 field season.  With the help of Cardiff University placement students 33 stream sediment samples, 445 soil samples and 12 rock chips have been collected.  The stream sediments samples have been collected across our Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire option agreements and in an area 7 km south-west of the Dolaucothi mine soil and rock chip samples have been collected to build on last years results.  All samples are currently awaiting analysis at ALS Laboratories.  The second half of the field season in September will comprise 4 weeks of additional stream sediment sampling in Carmarthenshire.
