Of Exploration Ground
Collected Over Two Years
Our aim is to find a gold deposit and establish a gold mine. Our focus is Wales but we remain open to opportunities elsewhere. We are using up to date exploration techniques and are exploring in a manner that will have positive environmental and societal impacts.
During the second half of the summer field season we continued our regional scale stream sediment sampling programme across the Southern Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire option agreements. This work, combined with a soil sampling programme completed earlier in the summer, in an area 7 km south-west of the Dolaucothi mine means that with the help of Cardiff University placement students 97 stream sediment samples, 518 soil samples and 25 rock chips have been collected over the full course of the summer field season. All samples are currently awaiting analysis at ALS Laboratories.
On September 13th and 14th we attended the UK Mining Conference held in Falmouth where Managing Director, Mike Armitage, presented ‘The Sarn Helen Gold Story – What have the Romans ever done for us?’. The presentation generated a lot of interest and we also had a lot of visitors to our stand inclusive of current and potential future investors, equipment providers and fellow explorers. A copy of Mike’s presentation can be found here.
Maxwell Porter, one of the placement students from Cardiff University who joined SHG during the first field season in summer 2021, presented work he undertook during his placement to the SEG London 2023 conference. He reportedly had ‘a great time talking with fellow geologists about the project and the significant collaboration SHG has had with Cardiff University.’ A copy of his summary poster can be seen here.
SHG holds 5 Option Agreements across Wales and Scotland.
